A beloved and pivotal voice in modern science fiction is said to have been a founding father of Cyberpunk and for coining the term “Cyberspace.” William Gibson has already left an indelible mark on literature, but is yet to be a cross-over success in film. We examine one failed attempt in 1995’s JOHNNY MNEMONIC as well as the short story that inspired it.
What went wrong? We can only speculate, but we have a good idea, and our read from the sideline.
